Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) reported sales of 1,596 units for the month of December 2011 as against 1,104 units in December 2010 representing a 44pc year-on-year increase. Out of the 1,596 units, Nissan Micra, the made-in-India Global compact hatchback leads the sales figures with 1,036 units in December 2011. Sunny sedan accounted for 533 of the December total, which includes 27 units of the diesel variant launched last month. The company has sold 3,663 units of Sunny since sales began in September 2011. The X-TRAIL - lifestyle SUV, Teana - premium sedan and iconic 370Z sports car comprise of the remaining sales. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said: “With the launch of the Sunny diesel variant, we are on track to achieve the targeted sales performance despite the difficult market conditions in India. The Sunny diesel will further boost our continued growth in India and together with our entire product range, we are confident of accelerating our progress in the Indian market.”
